Greenwell Farms 100% Kona Coffee “Peaberry” is a literal rare treasure. Normally two hemispheric seed halves occupy the inside of the coffee cherry. Occasionally, about 3-5% of the time, one of the seed halves doesn’t fertilize and the result is a single round (oval) seed that we have come to call the Peaberry.

Peaberries roast differently, and reveal different characteristics of the coffee. Greenwell Farms Peaberry is roasted to a Medium Dark, it has an exceptional sweet and floral aroma. Its taste is usually described as complex and delicate with bright acidity, notes of cherry, citrus fruit, and a naturally sweet after taste. Many first-time drinkers compare it to drinking a high-quality tea.

Greenwell Peaberry is my consistent favorite

More than 20 years ago I toured the farm and tried a wide sampling of the varieties, all great. It was and is a welcoming experience. When I revisit the Big Island every few years, I sample again, but am drawn back to the flavor and gentle energy of the aina that the Peaberry carries with it. As a member of the Coffee Club, that blessing is available to me 6000 miles away and always brings a smile.

We have been drinking this coffee for years. We love how smooth it is and the exceptional taste. Since we drink our coffee black, we are picky about the flavor of our coffee. So Peaberry is our preferred coffee.
